New Farm Site: The Highlands

We have a Second Farm!

We had been looking for a second site for over 2 years because we've have a huge waitlist for our CSA and we want to expand our educational programming and on-farm events.

Highlands mowing fields

Here is one of our farmers mowing the field in preparation for plowing and cover-cropping.

The Highlands Mansion and Gardens is a 44-acre historic site with a late 18th century Georgian mansion and two-acre formal garden, administered by the Highlands Historical Society (HHS). By collaborating with HHS, Pennypack Farm will be be able to bring veggies to even more families, as well as expand our educational programming.

This new site brings many new opportunities for Pennypack Farm members. You will have a choice where to pick up your share - Horsham or the Highlands (HHS is located in Ft Washington in Whitemarsh Township).

Beyond share pickup, we will be able to expand our events and educational offering by hosting them at HHS. We will bring back potluck dinners, as well as expand to things like farm-to-table dinners and more in the future. Look for programs for both children and adults, along with more volunteer opportunities for corporate and school groups.

What doe this mean for our members and waitlist?

  • We will continue the CSA and farming at our Horsham (Hosted by The College Settlement of Philadelphia) site. A second CSA is at The Highlands
  • We will partner with the Highlands Historical Society to provide expanded educational programming for the public.
  • We can offer shares of non-farm produced local foods for our members at the Highlands site!
  • We will gradually increase the number of CSA shares at the Highlands site to meet the demands of our waitlist.
  • In 2013, we have 125 small CSA shares available at the Highlands site.
Where is The Highlands?  it is 11 minutes away from our Horsham site.
Address: 7001 Sheaff Lane  Ft Washington, PA 19034
