Testimonials

See what our community is saying about us!

"Best part is the community that ties us all together. It is a great way in this day and age to be connected at the local level and not need our electronic devices. The farm is a place to recharge and relax. It is awesome to see fresh veggies year round."

"I love love love my farm. I love feeling like I am doing my part in the CSA movement by eating locally. I love feeling like I am caring for myself and my family wisely. "We love being a greeter and being among so many lovely veggies for a couple of hours each week. We have been members and greeters somewhere around 10 years and have learned to appreciate a much wider variety of veggies. The veggies are always beautiful and last a long time. We love the farm emails, recipe suggestions and camraderie of our community. Pennypack pickups have delighted and educated us."

-Denny, Member and Share Room Greeter since 2008

"For starters, even if you can find well-priced organic produce in a food market, there is no saying how fresh it is or long it has traveled. There is no question that the fresh, local, organic produce from PFEC is a great value. Also, keep in mind that there are times when your share includes large amounts of some items, such as tomatoes in the height of their growing season. Some of the classes that are offered teach you how to use some of the extra food you get in any given week by preserving it using methods such as canning, freezing, pickling, and dehydrating. It is tremendously satisfying make use of your dried peppers and tomatoes in the dead of winter."

"We've been members of Pennypack Farm for over 10 years for three reasons: the vegetables are fresh, organic, and delicious. We look forward to having crispy lettuce almost every week from spring through fall, and crunchy carrots distributed almost as frequently. We tried home gardening but it was expensive and frustrating. Pennypack is the closest thing to a home garden but with expert and dedicated farmers, to whom we extend our thanks."

"2019 marks my 15th workshare year, which now encompasses the winter workshare. The farm seems to have gone from strength to strength. Even in the worst of weather challenges, Pennypack now seems up to the task of regularly providing full shares for all. Spending 2 to 3 hours a week working in the fields with other like-minded folks, largely bereft of electronics and the demands of civilization, is, at the risk of cliche, a meditation of sorts. There is something about this kind of enterprise that seems to attract the best people to it."

"My husband and our 3 children enjoy so many aspects of our CSA membership at Pennypack Farm & Education Center. Working alongside the farmers in the field, we've learned how to improve our garden at home while exercising and getting in some time outdoors. The farmers are approachable, knowledgeable and extremely hard-working. The vegetables are fresh and beautiful. As a result, we eat more veggies. The community at the farm, the educational programming, and the opportunity to interact with the food and farmers all make it a terrific place for our family to learn and grow."

"I love feeding my one year old son fresh, organic food that I know where it comes from. I like showing him where his food comes from and I like knowing that it is nutritious, didn't use fossil fuels to get here from far away, and was grown with care."

"Being a part of PFEC has taken the pressure off me to have a fully productive home garden- it helps to know I have a wealth of local, fresh veggies if my home garden doesn't work out!"
