This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build their sustainable agriculture resume while working in a professional environment on a successful CSA farm! Some weeks the seasonal farmer will work Monday through Friday while other weeks weekend work will replace some of the weekday hours.
One season of experience farming is preferred but not required of applicants. Duties will include but not limited too; planting, weeding, watering, setting up irrigation, repairing items, harvesting, working with volunteers, washing produce, and driving tractors. Previous tractor experience is a plus, but not required if the applicant is willing to learn and operate tractors on a regular basis. Please mention in application if you have prior tractor experience.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds, walk, stand, kneel, drive, bend for long periods of time in all weather, ability to engage in other strenuous tasks as necessary including but not limited to tractor and implement operation.
- We look for candidates to join our farm crew who can maintain a positive and professional attitude throughout challenges of farming.
Must have a valid driver’s license: apprentices will be driving tractors and farm vehicles on and off the farm (ie: supply runs to Lancaster and weekly farmer's market)
Must pass a criminal background check and child abuse clearance: Our land hosts are The College Settlement Camp, a summer camp and school group educator, that use the farm in their programming. They require our staff to pass these clearances.
Compensation will be between $10-$12 per hour, depending on experience. Benefits include a weekly share of seasonal farm vegetables.
The farm is located in Horsham, Pa, about 45 minutes by car from Philadelphia. Unfortunately there is no easy public transit and having your own transportation is strongly recommended.
To apply, email a cover letter and resume to Jobs@pennypackfarm.org with it directed to the farm manager, Kirstie Jones.
