Food Donation Program

Millions of people worldwide suffer from hunger and undernutrition. A major factor contributing to this problem is food insecurity, a condition that exists when people lack sustainable physical or economic access to enough safe, nutritious, and socially acceptable food for a healthy and productive life. The lack of access to high quality fresh produce has been identified as one of the leading causes of the obesity epidemic.

Montgomery County, PA is one of America’s the most affluent places to live. However, more than 20% of the counties’ residents are at risk for hunger. The high cost of housing, health care and utilities make it difficult for many of our neighbors to access quality food.

At Pennypack Farm, it is part of our core values and mission to help bring nutritious, organically grown, local produce to our neighbors in need.

We are grateful for our relationships with community pantries and food rescue programs, which allow us to share our produce with families and individuals who otherwise may not have access to quality, fresh vegetables.

Our pantry partnerships include Manna on Main, Jenkintown United Methodist Church Food Cupboard, Inter-Faith Housing Alliance, and Mattie Dixon Community Cupboard.

We also work closely with Rolling Harvest Food Rescue, an organization that will come and help us harvest any surpluses in the field and ensure delivery to local pantries and shelters. This past season, we donated 10,000 pounds of produce, the most we ever have.
